Diagnostic Imaging: X-ray and MRI
When you need medical imaging services, you can receive x-rays and access to MRIs at St. Peters Bone & Joint. State-of-the-art diagnostic imaging is just another way that we provide extraordinary care, and stay connected with you.
On Site X-ray
Radiography, or x-ray, is the oldest and most frequently used form of medical imaging. X-rays are diagnostic images that are created by passing small, highly controlled amounts of radiation through the human body, capturing the resulting shadows and reflections on a photographic plate.
The most common use of x-rays is to assist in identifying and treating fractures. X-ray images of the spine, joints, and extremities are performed every day at St. Peters Bone & Joint, eliminating the need to go to a diagnostic facility to determine the severity of an injury.
Images of an injury can show our doctors even very fine hairline fractures or chips, while images produced after treatment ensure that a fracture has been properly aligned and stabilized for healing. Bone x-rays are used as an essential tool when we perform orthopaedic surgery, such as spinal repair, joint replacements or fracture reductions.
When you need x-rays our St. Peters office performs general x-ray services during your visit as required.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI)
Magnetic resonance imaging, or MRI, uses a magnetic field and a sophisticated computer system to give reliable and detailed images of the body. In orthopaedics, we use MRI for high quality images of soft tissue areas such as tendons, ligaments, and muscles. MRI produces very clear images of the hand, wrist, elbow, shoulder, spine, hip, knee, foot and ankle.
MRI can help provide information for a fast and accurate diagnosis and possibly reduce the need for exploratory surgery or other diagnostic procedures. Our MRI machine was designed with your comfort in mind by providing spacious, stress-free accommodations for claustrophobic, larger and pediatric patients.
At St. Peters Bone & Joint Surgery, we conveniently provide MRI imaging at our St. Peters location so you don’t have to go anywhere else. To schedule your MRI appointment, call Imaging Partners of St. Peters at (636) 229-4247.
